Hobby Master Diecast Warbird News: We’re proud to showcase 15 brand new collectibles. Among the highlights, you’ll find a CF/A-18A Hornet flown with the Royal Canadian Air Force demonstration team that in 2012 was given specialty paint scheme paying homage to "The True North, Strong and Free." There is also a Vietnam War-era F-4J Phantom II flown with the VMFA-235 "Death Angels" in 1972.   The centerpieces of the collection are a pair of WWII BF 109G-6s, flown by decorated European aces. The BF 109G-6 "Yellow 6" was flown by Ofw. Alfred Surau of 9./JG 3, Germany, in September 1943. Surau scored his first victory on Feb. 28, 1943, and had 41 by September 1943, finishing with 45 victories at the time of his death in October of the same year. The other BF 109G-6 was flown by Eino Ilmari Juutilainen of 1/LeLv34, Finnish Air Force, as it would have appeared in June 1944. Flying primarily against the Soviets, Juutilainen became the highest scoring non-German pilot of all time, with 94 victories to his credit by war’s end. Corgi Aviation Archive 2021 Models and JFox and WB Models Preorder News February 1, 2021 - www.DiecastAirplane.com Corgi Aviation Archive News: A total of 25 models, including 2 newly tooled, make up today’s globe-spanning assortment of aircraft replicas — the newest releases coming from Corgi!   This diverse collection celebrates a century’s worth of aviation with everything from World War I fighters to modern jets. Collectors will marvel at the detail on each model including a PBY-5 Catalina that was part of the alert response at the bombing of Pearl Harbor, an RAF Avro Lancaster B.Mk III that was the lead aircraft during a daylight bombing raid on Hitler’s Berchtesgaden Alpine retreat on April 25, 1945, and the B-24H Liberator "Witchcraft" that in January 1945, completed its 100th mission without mechanical failure.   Most noteworthy in the collection is a pair of fighters flown by WWII American Ace Jack M. Ilfrey, a P-38J Lightning and a P-51D Mustang. Both flew with the USAAF 79th Fighter Squadron of the 20th Fighter Group out of Kings Cliffe, England. Ilfrey’s P-38 was shot down over France six days after D-Day, but he avoided capture and eventually made it back to Kings Cliffe, where he took up the Mustang.
