Reporting from the 2009 iHobby Expo in Chicago

Hi folks, it's good to sit down for a minute after walking up and down the aisles and aisles of trains, planes, and automobile toys here at the 2009 iHobby Expo. As a diecast airplane fan there isn't as much here as I would like to see, but then again I like anything that is shinny and made out of metal, so the many, many diecast cars, and model trains here are a wonder to behold. Plus, who can resist R/C toys. It was hard for the toy lover in me to keep for jumping up and down with excitement.

I did get a look at the upcoming JSI 1:18 scale (yes, huge!) F-14. I've posted more pictures I took of this beauty on the page where you can preorder it.

Corgi was also there and I had a nice chat with the head of product development in the US. He has been with Corgi for about 10 years which means he's been through the rocky past where the name has been bought and sold, the production list cut, prices raised and lower, etc. But it is clear that under Hornby's ownership Corgi is back on track. Long overdue models  are now being delivered and we look forward to seeing what's new and exciting for 2010 (no announcements yet).

Below are just some photos from the show of a few  of the great displays. Indoor R/C dirt track (sorry that the car is just a blur), unbelievable plastic models constructing with loving detail, huge model train layouts, slot cars and more.
